About the Super Cruise
If you are an attentive driver and are in the proper conditions, your Super Cruise will allow for the hands-free operation of your Chevy! This piece of technology functions with Chevrolet Connected Services. It uses real-time cameras, sensors, GPS, and LiDAR map data to detect all of the curves so you can make long drives more comfortable. More than 200,000 miles of compatible roads exist in the United States and Canada. It will also include all the latest map updates and a highly innovative Driver Attention System, so you will always be paying attention to the road ahead. Several features will help you on your journey, such as Lane-Centering, which uses a series of cameras and sensors to identify lane markings so you will stay centered while driving hands-free. Finally, the Adaptive Cruise Control works with Super Cruise to detect vehicles traveling in the same direction in its path. The system will control acceleration and braking to maintain the driver-selected following gap.
Available On Certain Super Cruise Enabled Vehicles
On certain Chevy vehicles, you could get up to 400,000 miles of compatible roads, and there will be several other features that you can activate with the touch of a button. One of these features is the Lane Change on Demand which you can start by using the turn signal on certain Chevy vehicles and will look for an opening in the desired lane and change lanes without the driver having to do anything. In addition, if your Chevy detects a slower vehicle, certain Chevys with Super Cruise can automatically initiate the turn signal, change lanes, pass all kinds of slower traffic, signal again, and return to the first lane without any driver input. Finally, with Super Cruise Trailering, your Super Cruise will recognize your compatible trailer and lengthen the gap from the vehicle in front of you. This will provide you with some extra stopping distance.
What You Need
Your Chevy Super Crusie functions with the Super Cruise Connected Services plan. Every Super Cruise vehicle will have three years of connectivity to support functionality. Also, to maintain acceleration and braking and a driver-selected gap time with Super Cruise, you will need both Adaptive Cruise Control† and Forward Collision Alert active and all Teen Driver Technology turned off. Finally, proper conditions and an attentive driver to activate the Super Cruise. Ensure that you are on a compatible road with visible lane markings, that your camera and radar sensors have not been covered, and that your eyes are on the road. That way, the Driver Attention System can detect your alertness.
How to Engage Super Cruise
When engaging the Super Cruise, the first thing you are going to want to do is activate the Adaptive Cruise Control system. If that is already set, the symbol on the instrument cluster will turn white. Next, when the Super Cruise detects you are on a capable road and paying attention, you will see a white Super Cruise symbol displayed on the instrument cluster. Finally, press the Super Cruise button on the steering wheel when it is safe to engage the feature. When the Super Cruise symbol is lit in green, you can remove your hands from the steering wheel. Never remove your hands unless the light turns green, indicating that the Super Cruise has taken over. If you want to disengage from the Super Cruise, press the Super Cruise button again to deactivate it.
