Car Sanitizing Tips to Fight COVID-19 Spread
During this global COVID-19 pandemic, you have likely become a little hyper aware of all the things you have to touch, especially when you are out of your home. To help protect yourself against the potential spread of the virus, you can sanitize your car. Here are a few car sanitizing tips to get you started.
To clean hard surfaces in your car you can use either disinfectant wipes or normal soapy water and a washcloth. For carpets and upholstery, use whatever is appropriate for the materials in your car like leather cleaner, carpet cleaner, or upholstery shampoo. Make sure you don’t use any products with bleach, as you don’t want to unintentionally ruin your car’s interior.
Wipe down all the hard surfaces in your car. Pay special attention to high-touch areas like the steering wheel, audio controls, climate control, and gear shifter. If you are using water and a washcloth, be sure to squeeze out as much excess water as you can so you don’t damage any electronics. You also want to avoid using any ammonia-based cleaners on the touch screen surfaces.
For the upholstery, carpeting, and other soft surfaces, follow the cleaning directions on the products you are using. You can always test the product in an inconspicuous area to make sure it doesn’t damage your interior.
