GM Plans a Carbon Neutral Future by 2040

General Motors is one of the largest auto manufacturers in the world and is the largest in the United States. That is why the automaker is taking the lead in announcing its plan to achieve carbon neutrality by 2040.

“General Motors is joining governments and companies around the globe working to establish a safer, greener and better world,” said Mary Barra, GM Chairman and CEO. “We encourage others to follow suit and make a significant impact on our industry and on the economy as a whole.”

A major part of this goal is to eliminate tailpipe emissions from any new light-duty vehicles that it produces by 2035. This will mean General Motors will increase its dedication to electrification across its lineup. With more electric vehicles available, this will also help make them more affordable and versatile.

GM has a plan to introduce 30 all-new electric models around the world by 2025. In fact, with this timeframe, 40 percent of GM models in the U.S. will be powered by electric batteries. With a more expansive electric lineup, which already includes the Bolt EV, we are excited to see what kind of electric vehicles will be available here at El Dorado Chevrolet in McKinney, Texas.
